Big Trouble in Little Minneapolis?!?!

Oh man... Wow. That's all I have to say about the Sonic Youth show. That picture on the left sums it up pretty well. It definately helped out the mood A LOT. I was sort of afraid I was gonna be late, but it turned out that I got there right on time and found a great parking spot too. The last time I went to a concert at First Avenue I ended up parking four or five blocks away... Yeah. Stupid mistake on my part. Anyways, the concert was fucking incredible. Before the show even started they were playing Big Trouble in Little China on the screen in front of the stage which killed time fast. They guys I met hadn't seen it before, so I made them promise me they would rent it.The opening band, Awesome Color, was perfect for a SY crowd. They were like a punkabily noise blues mashup... Definatly check them out. After that, Sonic Youth destroyed an incredible set. I mean, they basically played the whole Eternal album. Plus, they made me shit my pants when they busted out Silver Rocket and (I've Got A) Catholic Block. Playing stuff from Sister AND Daydream Nation???? Pure bliss. The last encore was a heavy rendition of Death Valley '69, which to be honest I had never heard before that. All around, it was nucking futs. Ended up driving home, riding the adrenaline high, and staying up until five thirty that morning. Epic night, to say the least. Can't wait for Dinosaur Jr. in October!
